Shauntai is incredibly excited to be marking her Hamer Hall debut in what will be an exciting moving and inspiring event!
STAND BY YOUR WOMAN @ Hamer Hall, Arts Centre Melbourne
Put fourteen of the sharpest Australian instrumentalists in the same room and you might expect big things. And if they’re all women? That’s something worth hearing about.
From vocalists to producers, studio techs to management, women power every corner of the Australian music industry. Now for one night only the spotlight will shine on the female instrumentalists who keep this scene alive. From opera to hip-hop to rock ‘n’ roll, guest artists in a staggering array of musical genres will each be backed by a fourteen-strong all-female house band, the SPIRE ensemble, whose members are among the finest musicians performing today.
Lending their vocal talents to this powerhouse squad of women and showing their support for equality in the Aussie music industry is a carefully curated line-up of special guest artists that you’d never usually get the chance to see in a single night – the iconic Kate Ceberano; one of Australia’s most popular rappers Mantra; indie songstress Clare Bowditch; genre-defying urban music star Mojo Juju; much-loved singer/songwriter Rebecca Barnard; musical comedy legends Tripod; Wiradjuri Soprano Shauntai Batzke; Zimbabwean-born R&B songstress Thando; Nkechi Anele, the lead singer for Saskwatch; and Powderfinger guitarist and singer/songwriter in his own right Darren Middleton.
Together, this powerhouse ensemble will create something extraordinary and show Melbourne what the future of music really sounds like.
